Did my last training ride on the weekend with Karen and the boys. Down to Cardiff Bay via some bizarre route through Whitchurch that Karen constived. And then back via Heath Park and the kids railway there. And very excitingly this was the first real trip out for the tandem. George (4) was my turbo charger on the back. Apart from getting his foot jammed in the cogs and chain it all went very well.
It was also Karen's first trip out on her new "lush" bike as well. Fortunately she liked it a lot.
Dylan was on his own bike (poor Dylan, it's Oscar's hand-me-down), but with new chain, cassette, brakes etc. He managed to get up all of the hills, bar one, on his own.
And Oscar was on his super new racer.
All this in preparation for our family Coast To Coast trip in the summer on the bikes. It's beginning to feel like the cycling equivalent of family Von Trapp.
Weather was great. So if every day on the trip up to John O'Groats is as good as that, I'll be a happy camper.
